Located in one of the most emblematic squares of the capital of Cádiz, the building of the City Hall of Cadiz stands beautifully on the Plaza de San Juan de Dios and catches the eye of passers-by. While the facade is attractive and arouses curiosity, it is only part of the architectural continent that frames some beautiful interiors that deserve to be explored with a guided tour. The various rooms are articulated around a square patio from which a staircase from the late 17th century leads. Some interesting details to look at are a sculpture of Hercules in white marble , which used to sit in a fountain in the capital; and two large canvases on the stairs, one depicting the miracle of the Virgen del Rosario and the other depicting the patron saints of Cádiz.
The location of Cádiz City Hall has not changed since the 16th century, although the building has changed over time. In fact, the current structure built in 1799 is built on old town halls.
