From the beginning, the Church of Sant Domingo was part of the Convent of Santa Creu La Real of the Order of Preachers.
Construction began in 1512 and was developed in 2 phases. The facade has three semicircular arches supported by Doric columns . The parapets bear the initials of the Catholic Monarchs and the coat of arms of Charles V. Four gargoyles are placed at the highest part of this portico.
Behind the arches is the entrance door to the church, the surroundings of which are decorated with murals by Maldonado. These trompe l' oeil style murals depict figurative architecture, with niches housing the statues of Our Lady of the Rosary, Saint Thomas Aquinas , Saint Domènec de Guzmán and the Catholic Monarchs
To the right of the door is a bell tower with a hole for two bells.
The Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary is notable for its ornate decoration, with mirrors and crystal balls covering the vaults. A star-shaped dome protects the Virgin Mary. The chapel is dominated by the 16th-century carved wooden statue of Our Lady of the Rosary, the patron saint of the church. The statue is notable for its attire of precious stones and fine silver.
