Statue of the Virgin - Zahara de la Sierra - Andalusia

Next to the semi-cave 'La Perica', nestled in the mountain, in a small garden behind an iron fence we find a beautiful statue of the Virgin Mary surrounded by plants.

The caption reads:

At La STe Virgen Ano Mariano 1987 - 1988

According to the story of the Perica Cave , on a starry night you can hear the moans of a young woman begging for the return of her beloved knight in the half-cave formed by the mountain. She longs for his kisses...
We don't know how true this story is, but we love to find informative signs in villages that tell about the ancient beliefs of their residents.
