Puente Cabrera - Granada

Located on the Carrera del Darro, the Cabrera Bridge is undoubtedly one of the most attractive places in Granada, both for its setting and for the beautiful buildings that surround it. This bridge connects the Carrera del Darro with the Churra district.

The Cabrera Bridge leads to the slope of Sta. Inés, where you can visit the Casa de Agreda , dating from the end of the 16th century, the residence of the Caballero Veinticuatro de Granada D. Diego de Vera Agreda y Vargas. Opposite this house is the Monastery of Santa Inés, founded by the licentiate Bazón.

The Cabrera bridge has a single arch, slightly lowered, with a brick wire, and a high masonry and brick parapet. She was named after Pedro Cabrera y Jaques de Mansilla , commander of Ocaña, who was a lieutenant of the Generalife.

Nearby is the Espinosa Bridge, which, like the Cabrera Bridge, was probably built during the urban renewal of the Carrera del Darro at the beginning of the 17th century. This rebuilding was carried out after the destruction by the explosion of a powder magazine next to the church of San Pedro in 1590, and after the continuous landslides, the river was diverted, widening the street.

A little further from the Puente de Cabrera we find the Puerta de Los Tableros or Puerta de las Compuertas , which originally connected the Albaicín to the Alhambra.

Undoubtedly one of the most romantic and bucolic walks you can take in Granada is to walk along the Carrera del Darro at sunset and over the beautiful bridges that transport us to other times.
