The Church of San Pedro was built along with the other thirteen recognized by King Ferdinand III the Holy .
The building was built on the remains of a Mozarabic temple, which probably housed the remains of the first martyrs of our city: Faustus, Januarius and Martial, who died in Roman times. The first works were carried out in the second half of the 13th century . We even have news of its construction in 1264, when a San Pedro clergyman mentions the building in his writings.
From the beginning, the church underwent numerous transformations, due to the poorly laid foundations, which caused the church to collapse several times. In the middle of the 16th century, Hernán Ruiz II completely rebuilt the main facade, which made the church of San Pedro look very different from the original.
