Convento de Santa Cruz - Cordoba

In Calle Agustín Moreno, near the church of San Pedro, there is the great convent of Santa Cruz , which is managed by the Poor Clares sisters.

Founded in the 15th century, it retains few traces of its Gothic origins through later remodeling, largely in the Baroque period. The semi-circular door leads to the compass. At the entrance of the church, you will see the coats of arms of the patrons of the monastery, the Marquises of Escalonias, buried under the steps of the sanctuary.

The church, which was completely renovated in the 18th century , is notable for its tiled plinth from the 18th century and the coffered ceilings of the choir and choir loft.

The Monastery of Santa Cruz de Córdoba consists of a series of buildings resulting in an irregular plan, in which the main building, structured around the main cloister, and the church, as well as a large space dedicated to the orchard. The complex is accessed via Agustín Moreno Street. From here there is access to a first patio or compás , with an irregular plan, into which is integrated the entrance porch of the church , formed by a gallery of semicircular arches on stone columns and capitals decorated with shields. In this portico another very simple door opens, with a gate, giving access to the church from one of the sides of the nave.
