Monumento a Juan Manuel Rodríguez Ojeda - Seville

The monument is located in the Plaza de la Macarena next to the Arco de la Macarena and looking towards the Basilica de la Macarena .

In the year 2000, a bronze bust was placed on a simple pedestal by the sculptor Luis Álvarez Duarte with the following inscription: "To Juan Manuel Rodríguez Ojeda with the recognition and gratitude of the Macarena. Seville December 18, 2000."

Juan Manuel Rodríguez Ojeda was born in 1853 and died in 1930. He was an embroiderer and designer for the brotherhoods of the Sevillian Holy Week . For the brotherhood of the Macarena in 1900 he embroidered the red velvet cloak called "El Camaronero", the clothes of the Centuria Romana and the clothes of the Nazarenes. He also designed the gold crown for the Virgen de la Esperanza Macarena in 1913. He embroidered the Persian tunic for the Gran Poder . In 1943, the Seville City Council dedicated a street to him, Bordador Rodríguez Ojeda, between Padre Manjón and Duque Cornejo streets.
