The Costurero de la Reina, a beautiful castle-shaped building with round turrets , topped with small battlements, overlooks the gates of Seville's Parque de María Luisa.
This unique space, made of two-tone bricks that form stripes in the shades of albero and almagra, so typical of Seville, was built in the 19th century by Antonio de Orleans, Duke of Montpensier. The architect of this unique building was Juan Talavera y de la Vega.
The Costurero de la Reina can be considered the first neo-Mudejar building in Seville, showing this Arabic style in the large windows it has.
One of the most famous legends about the Costurero tells us that Queen María de las Mercedes, due to her poor health, spent long periods in the rooms of the small castle sunbathing while she sewed with her ladies and also that during these periods she received visitors of Alfonso XII, who emerged from the Alcázar of Seville on horseback after conducting his state affairs. This is impossible because the building was built in 1893 and the queen died in 1878.
El Costurero de la Reina is a small two-story building. It also has a small and charming garden.
This space is highly recommended for the presentation of products and services, but also for holding meetings and gatherings. The dimensions of the building allow to celebrate events with a small capacity, giving them exclusivity and proximity.
The maximum capacity of the room is 20 people on the first floor and 80 people outside. There is a public car park near the site and access is adapted for the disabled.
