The statue of Curro Romero is an urban monument dedicated to the Sevillian bullfighter Curro Romero (born in the municipality of Camas in 1933), created by Sebastián Santos Calero in 2001 , and stands next to the bullring of Seville.
The monument is made of bronze and depicts the bullfighter dressed in a bullfighter's costume, in a display he made for the bull Flautino, from the Gabriel de Rojas bull running in the Feria de Abril in 1984. It is located next to the Real Maestranza of Seville, in a roundabout planted with rosemary bushes, which will bear his name.
The work, in bronze, represents the full-scale bullfighter performing one of the famous "implantations" of the Pharaoh of Camas and was inaugurated by the bullfighter himself.
The bullfighter has his admirers and detractors in the city and they threw rosemary bouquets at him on afternoons of “ecstasy” and pillows on afternoons of “pedasilla”… the work is an example of a large number of works and busts dedicated to various bullfighters in the city .
