🚴‍♂️ Ibiza 80K – The green heart & the rugged north coast 🌿🌊

Get on your road bike for a breathtaking journey of 80 kilometers through the countryside and along the north coast of Ibiza. This route combines quiet roads, rural charm, hidden coves, and moderately challenging climbs into one perfect loop. Ideal for an active morning or a relaxing day on the pedals, with plenty of spots along the way to stop, refuel, or simply enjoy.

 

🗺️ Route description – counterclockwise for the best light & views

📍 Start: Santa Eulària des Riu

Depart early from the lively coastal town of Santa Eulària. You immediately head towards the coast and warm up your legs on a gently undulating road to Cala Llonga.

🚴‍♀️ Pacing: Easy warm-up, beautiful views over the hills of the east.

🌄 1. Cala Llonga ➜ Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera

After a steep climb out of Cala Llonga, you head inland. The landscape changes rapidly: pine forests make way for orchards and open fields. You arrive in the lively Santa Gertrudis, a charming village filled with art, culture, and cafés.

☕ Coffee tip: Musset or Bar Costa – popular among cyclists and locals.

🌳 Vibe: Bohemian and relaxed, with a touch of luxury Ibiza.

🍇 2. Buscastell ➜ Santa Agnès de Corona

After Santa Gertrudis, you dive deep into the peaceful countryside. Through Buscastell – one of the smallest villages on the island – you climb to the lovely Santa Agnès, with its almond trees and red earth.

🍷 3. Sant Mateu d'Albarca ➜ Sant Miquel de Balansat

In the heart of the wine region, you cycle through the valley of Sant Mateu – calm roads surrounded by vineyards. Then follows a nice descent to the slightly busier Sant Miquel, with its iconic white church on the hill.

🌊 4. Port de Sant Miquel ➜ Port de Benirràs

This is where the route becomes spectacular. First, you descend to Port de Sant Miquel, then follow a climb and a winding descent to Benirràs, one of the most beautiful bays of Ibiza.

🌅 Tip: In the summer, you'll find drumming here every evening at sunset.

🌲 5. Towards Sant Llorenç ➜ Sant Carles de Peralta

After the coast, you return inland. Along shady, quiet roads, you cycle to Sant Llorenç de Balafia, with its old Moorish towers, and then to Sant Carles, where hippie culture meets farming life.

🏁 6. Back to Santa Eulària des Riu

A gentle descent and a few last kilometers bring you back to Santa Eulària relaxed. End your ride with a drink on the terrace or a refreshing dip in the sea. 🏖️
