Road cycling route to Cap Formentor: From Alcúdia to the Formentor lighthouse

This challenging, panoramic road cycling route from Alcúdia takes you along beautiful coastlines, through historic villages, and to one of the most renowned viewpoints of Mallorca. The goal: the legendary lighthouse of Cap Formentor. The route is filled with climbs and descents that combine strenuous efforts and breathtaking views, perfect for the experienced cyclist who wants to experience Mallorca at its best.

Start in Alcúdia
From the charming center of Alcúdia, you begin at the Ruines Romanes de Pollentia, remnants of Mallorca's Roman past. Then you pass the gothic Sant Jaume and cycle through the Porta de Mallorca, which marks the old city walls of Alcúdia.

Badia de Pollença and L'Arenalet
Along the coastline of the Badia de Pollença, you ride towards Port de Pollença. Enjoy the view of the azure blue sea on your right. At L'Arenalet, you reach the beach and harbor area of Port de Pollença, where a short break can be quite nice.

Coll de la Creueta and Mirador de Es Colomer
From Port de Pollença, you cycle to Coll de la Creueta (232 m), a solid climb that takes you to one of the most stunning viewpoints on the route: the Mirador de Es Colomer. This viewpoint offers a panoramic view of the rugged coastlines and the azure blue sea.

Descent to Cabo Formentor and Platja Formentor
Here begins a technical descent to Cabo Formentor and further to Platja Formentor. This beach is surrounded by pine trees and is one of the most idyllic spots on the coast.

Climb to Faro de Formentor and Mirador del Far de Formentor
From Platja Formentor, you set course towards the lighthouse of Cap Formentor. This climb is challenging, but along the way, there are several stops, such as Mirador del Puat and Mirador Cap de Formentor, where the view over the Mediterranean is phenomenal. Ultimately, you reach the highlight of the route, the Faro de Formentor with its accompanying Mirador del Far de Formentor.

Return journey via Cap de Formentor and Coll de la Creueta
The return journey starts with a short descent, followed by a climb from Faro de Formentor to Cap de Formentor, after which you pass the Coll de la Creueta again. Then you make the long descent back to Port de Pollença.

Village center Pollença and terraces with views of El Calvari
In Pollença, you cycle through the charming village center, where you can take a short break at a terrace with views of Le Puig del Calvari and El Calvari.

Via Sa Pobla and Muro to Can Picafort
From Pollença, you cycle through the quiet villages of Sa Pobla and Muro, known for their agricultural land and rural views, to Can Picafort. Here you enjoy the view of the sea and the coastline.

Back to Alcúdia
The last kilometers return along the coastline to Alcúdia. The journey ends where it began, in the historical core of this ancient town.
