GR-92. Stage 81. Benalmádena-Mijas

Stage 81 of the GR-92, which connects Benalmádena with Mijas, is a hiking route that stretches for 17.4 kilometers and presents a difficulty level considered difficult. During this journey, hikers will experience a cumulative ascent of 802 meters, allowing them to enjoy panoramic views of the Andalusian coast and the mountainous interior. Along the route, hikers will have the opportunity to explore two important points of interest in Mijas. The first is the Mijas Bullring, a sports complex that was built in 1900 at the request of a group of locals. This place is not only a symbol of the region’s bullfighting culture, but it also reflects the history and tradition of the local community. Another significant attraction is the Caves of the Ancient Forge, located in the historic center of Mijas. This group of three small caves, sculpted both by nature and human intervention, offers a fascinating insight into the history of the area and its relationship with mining and craftsmanship. The GR-92 route in this stage not only challenges hikers with its varied terrain and slopes but also invites them to immerse themselves in the rich cultural and natural heritage of Andalusia.
