GR-116. Stage 04. Guadalupe-Alía

Stage 04 of the GR-116, which connects Guadalupe with Alía, offers an enriching experience along 16.9 kilometers of trails in the province of Cáceres. With a medium difficulty, this route is accessible for walkers with a moderate fitness level, as it includes a cumulative ascent of 312 meters. The starting point is the emblematic Royal Monastery of Santa María de Guadalupe, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. This monastery, dating back to the 14th century, is an important pilgrimage center and a notable example of Gothic and Mudéjar architecture in Spain. Its impressive facade and richly decorated interior bear witness to the religious and cultural history of the region.
