GR-171. Stage 01. Sanctuary of Pinós-Castellfollit de Riubregós

Stage 01 of the GR-171 route, which runs from the Sanctuary of Pinós to Castellfollit de Riubregós, offers a unique experience for hiking enthusiasts in Catalonia. With a length of 14.5 kilometers and a medium difficulty level, this route is accessible for walkers with some experience. The journey begins at the Sanctuary of Pinós, a place of great historical and spiritual significance, situated in a privileged natural setting. From here, hikers delve into a varied landscape, where native flora and fauna unfold in all their splendor. Along the way, various geological formations can be observed, and panoramic views invite contemplation. One of the points of interest nearby is the C-13 road, known as the Pallars Axis. This road connects the regions of Segriá, Noguera, Pallars Jussà, and Pallars Sobirá, and is an important communication axis in the area. At the end of the stage, walkers arrive at Castellfollit de Riubregós, a small municipality in the province of Barcelona. Covering an area of 26.21 km² and with a population of only 192 inhabitants, this place offers a tranquil and authentic atmosphere.
