Le Ballon d'Alsace

Located in the heart of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park, at the convergence of two regions (Grand Est and Bourgogne - Franche Comté) and four départements (Haute-Saône, Haut-Rhin, Territoire de Belfort and Vosges), the Ballon d'Alsace is the highest point in the Southern Vosges at 1247 meters altitude. The Ballon d'Alsace is an ideal playground for young and old, with a wide range of activities available all year round. A discovery trail offering panoramic views of the Alps and Alsace, the walk lasts around 1 hour. 10 reading tables will help you discover the identity of this place, and an orientation table will enable you to read the landscape. Tourists can also take an interest in some of the monuments that catch their eye in particular places: the Vierge du Sommet, Notre-Dame du Ballon, erected in 1862, the Monument des Démineurs, inaugurated on July 7, 1952, and the equestrian statue of Joan of Arc, commissioned from the sculptor Mathurin Moreau and moved several times before finding its definitive place at the summit of Le Ballon. Marked trails will delight beginners and experienced hikers alike. The paragliding and hang-gliding take-off areas attract many thrill-seekers every year.
