The Col de Portet d'Aspet is mountain pas at an altitude of 1,069 m. In 1995, the cyclist Fabio Casartelli fell during the Tour de France of 1995 and lost his life when he hit his head against an pole. The accident happened before the last turn with a slope of 18%.
