Epernay is surrounded by the rolling hills of Champagne. A Champagne glass is also named after this village: the 'Epernay' glass. It is a tall, narrow glass designed to preserve the bubbles as much as possible. The 'Epernay' glass from Royales de Champagne has been around since 1666. Its stem is hollow, and the diameter of the foot is equal to that of the top, allowing the glasses to be stackable.
