The collegiate Saint-Leonard is a French collegiate of the city of Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat, in the region of New Aquitaine and the department Haute-Vienne. It is built according to Romanesque architecture and is classified as historical monuments. It is part of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela on the Via Lemovicensis, the Limousin Way, and since 1998 it has been on UNESCO's World Heritage List under the St. James's route de Compostela in France.
According to his hagiography, Leonard asked Clovis I to grant him the right to visit and possibly release the prisoners he deems fit to be, and that at any time. Thus did Leonardo liberate a large number of prisoners and became their patron saint. Still according to his legend, he prayed that the wife of the king of the Franks gave birth to a male child, which happened. As a reward, he was given land in Nobiliacum, where he founded an abbey. A village was established around it, which was named in his honor Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat.
