Saint-Romain-de-Benet is a western French commune with 1,733 inhabitants in the Charente-Maritime department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Saint-Romain-de-Benet is located in the ancient cultural landscape of Saintonge about 21 kilometers southwest of Saintes and about 23 kilometers northeast of the Gironde estuary near Royan. The main town of the canton, Saujon, is only about 10 kilometers southwest; the neighboring commune of Thézac is about 6 kilometers to the southeast.
