Daglan

Daglan is a French commune located in the Dordogne department, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Situated on the northern plate of the Aquitaine Basin and bordered at its northeastern end by a fringe of the Central Massif, the Dordogne department shows a great geological diversity. The terrains are arranged in depth in regular strata, witnesses of sedimentation on this ancient marine platform. The department can thus be divided geologically into four differentiated stages according to their geological age. Daglan is located in the second stage from the northeast, a plateau formed of very hard Jurassic limestone rocks deposited by the sea through carbonate chemical sedimentation, in thick and massive beds. It is in the Daglan causses, southwest around Daglan, between Saint-Cyprien, Domme, and Villefranche-du-Périgord, a vast fragmented ensemble presenting numerous limestone faces, mainly consisting of dry lawns, steppes, and deciduous forests in winter.
