Vézelise is a French commune located in the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle, in Lorraine, in the administrative region of Grand Est. Vézelise is situated about thirty kilometers south of Nancy, in the heart of the Saintois region, of which the village is also the capital. Its nickname "chamber pot of Lorraine" comes from the presence, in the 19th century, of tanneries that exhaled unpleasant odors; and perhaps from its topographical situation: Vézelise is located in a hollow, at the confluence of the Brénon and the Uvry.
