Justian

Justian is a French commune with 120 inhabitants in the Gers department in the Occitanie region. It belongs to the Auch arrondissement and the community association Artagnan de Fezensac, which was founded in 2003. The inhabitants are called Justianais.

Justian is located in the Armagnac countryside on the Osse River, about 34 kilometers northwest of Auch and 60 kilometers south-southwest of Agen. The commune consists of several small villages, hamlets, and individual farms. The hamlet of Justian, with the town hall, is relatively central. The village church of Saint-Maurice is located in the hamlet of Le Presbytère. Other villages in the commune include Le Bourdieu, Gillet as the largest village, Tichanéron, Randé, Le Prat, Les Communs, Camp du Bosc, Lassalle, Castay, Labat, Lasserre, Las Tachouères, Hourton, Picas, Mahé, Lassénat, and Courrouscau. The terrain in the commune is characterized by gentle hills. To the west of the Osse, a mix of fields, hedges, and meadows defines the landscape, while in the hills east of the Osse valley, vineyards are cultivated. In the far east of the commune, there is a small remaining forest. Justian is surrounded by the neighboring communes of Roques to the north, Bezolles to the east, Vic-Fezensac to the southeast, Mourède to the south and southwest, Lannepax to the west, and Courrensan to the northwest.
