Virignin is a French municipality in the Ain department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It belongs to the Belley canton in the same-named arrondissement. The residents call themselves the Virignolans. The national road 504A runs through Virignin. The border with the westernly located Brens largely follows the Canal de Derivation du Rhône. This artificial waterway, which branches off from the Rhône, flows into the river coming from the east and then running south at the municipal triangle of Brens/Virignin/La Balme. The neighboring municipalities are Belley to the north, Parves-et-Nattages to the east, and Yenne to the southeast. The municipal territory contains approved vineyard areas of Vin du Bugey.
