There is an "alternative" story to explain the formation of this lake. Indeed, the lake is situated at the site of the ancient village of Le Bouchet. A legend says that the gods, infuriated by the behavior of the inhabitants of the village, came to talk to the most charitable soul of the village, an old lady. The gods told her to leave the village with her goat, and especially not to turn on the way, if the village would be engulfed by a huge wave. She went, arriving at midway, she heard a thud behind her and she turned around. She saw a huge wave engulfing the village. Since then, the place where she turned around, is a stone cross with the goat's head carved on it.
