The UNESCO headquarters in Paris came into operation in 1958. The building was designed by Marcel Breuer (USA), Pier-Luigi Nervi (Italy) and Bernard Zehrfuss (France). UNESCO's mission is to contribute to peace-building, poverty alleviation, sustainable development and intercultural dialogue through education, science, culture and communication. UNESCO is actively involved in managing our world heritage.
