Height 108

The Kalkberg Height 108 is the easternmost hill of the ridge Chemin des Dames in the French department of Aisne. Height 108 is located within the municipality of Berry-au-Bac. Its strategically advantageous position made it a contested terrain point during World War I.

Height 108 separates the valley of the Aisne from the valley of the stream Loivre. The Aisne flows north along Height 108 from east to west. Along the Aisne runs the navigable Canal latéral à l’Aisne. From the south, the Loivre stream flows into the Aisne at Height 108. Parallel to the Loivre runs the Canal de l’Aisne à la Marne from north to south. A few hundred meters further west to the Aisne-Marne Canal is the national road from Reims to Laon.
