The forest of Wallers-Arenberg has a terrible reputation among cyclists. Almost every year crashes happen here during the spring classic Paris-Roubaix with sometimes disastrous results as in 1998 when Johan Museeuw fell and broke his kneecap. In 2001, Philippe Gaumont broke his thigh.
