"In the 12th century, the castle was used as a hideout by a band of brigands who robbed travellers. The bishop of Mende employed them to guard the road.
The building was located on a plateau protected to the north by the Chassezac, to the south and east by cliffs. Access was only possible via the Regordane. [...]
All that remains of the castle is a tower and ruins. The walls formed a continuous belt around the hamlet. The walls are made up of regular courses of rectangular sandstone blocks, brought from a neighbouring plateau, and a high square tower stands in the centre of the ruined quadrilateral [...]".
