Cerdanya is historically one of the counties of Catalonia. The regio is mentioned in the book Cathedral of the Sea by Ildefonso Falcones. This region was frequently visited by the Inquisition, because the French King chased the Cathars, Waaldensians, Beghars and Templars over the Pyrenees. The border regions were the first to come under these 'heretical' influences.
It was also here that the brother-friend of Arnau, Joan came as part of the Inquisition.
