Thiennes is a French commune located in the Nord department in the Hauts-de-France region. The climate characterizing the commune is classified, in 2010, as "altered oceanic climate," according to the climate typology of France, which then listed eight major climate types in mainland France. In 2020, the commune remained in the same climate type in the classification established by Météo-France, which now only lists five major climate types in mainland France at first glance. It is a transition zone between the oceanic climate, mountain climate, and semi-continental climate. The temperature differences between winter and summer increase with distance from the sea. Precipitation is lower than at the seaside, except near the reliefs.
