Semussac is a commune in the South-West of France, located in the Charente-Maritime department. Its inhabitants are called Semussacais and Semussacaises.
Long marked by agricultural activities, this small town has experienced significant development in recent years due to the growth of suburbanization: integrated into the suburban crown of Royan, it is increasingly becoming a residential suburb. Its location in a Saintonge hinterland close to the seaside resorts of the Côte de Beauté, halfway between heavily urbanized areas and rural zones, punctuated by small dynamic towns, the latter along the Royan-Bordeaux road, explains the development of tourism and services, the latter sector materialized by the presence of a business area with several dozen shops and a supermarket.
