Two popular long-distance hiking routes cross in this place. The GR10 runs from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea and the European hiking route E3 runs from Nesebǎr on the Black Sea to Santiago de Compostela. This route is especially known as a pilgrimage route; from Saint-Jean, the next stage is Roncesvalles in the Spanish Pyrenees.
