Longuenesse

Longuenesse Souvenir Cemetery is a British military cemetery with casualties from the First and Second World Wars, located in the French municipality of Longuenesse just south of the city of Saint-Omer. The cemetery lies on the Route des Bruyères next to the municipal cemetery and the garrison cemetery of Saint-Omer, the so-called Cimetière du Souvenir Français. In the northwest corner stands a memorial for the fallen soldiers of this garrison.
The cemetery has an approximately triangular layout. The ground slopes slightly downwards to the north. The entrance consists of two stone pillars with double gates. The cemetery is oriented north-south and is approximately divided into a northern part with the graves of French and Belgian casualties and a southern part with Commonwealth graves due to a leveling difference in the middle. The British section covers an area of 5,541 m². The Cross of Sacrifice stands at the northern end of it and the Stone of Remembrance stands at the southern end on an elevated terrace with steps, flanked by two square shelters with tent roofs.
