Muttersholtz [mytəʁsɔlt͡s] is a French commune located in the administrative district of Bas-Rhin and, since January 1, 2021, in the territory of the European Community of Alsace, in the Grand Est region.
This commune, to the north of the Sélestat ried, in the historical heart of the Alsatian Grand Ried, served by departmental road 21, is situated in the historical and cultural region of Alsace. This former village, promoted to a small town during the German Belle Époque, is one of the most important centers of the central Alsace ried. Muttersholtz, a village once dedicated to agriculture and livestock, to the processing of flax and to navigation on the Ill and the Rhine, is known for having been an active center of home textile production, and it was one of the last rural bastions of kelsch, a fabric originally made of linen in multicolored checked patterns, commonly blue or red.
