Saint-François-Xavier College-High School-Prep of Vannes

The Saint-François-Xavier College-High School-Prep is a French Catholic institution of secondary and higher education, located at 3, rue Thiers in Vannes, not far from the city's marina. Founded by Jesuits in 1850, it carries on the Jesuit educational tradition of the old Saint-Yves college founded in the 17th century, from which the Jesuits were expelled in 1763.
The Saint-François-Xavier college, high school, and prep school in Vannes is an institution in the Breton educational landscape [citation needed]. Its founding in 1850, initiated by the Society of Jesus, seemed to respond to the desire to resume and continue the history of the Saint-Yves college, an ancient institution in the city, for which the Jesuits had been responsible in the 17th century and from which they had been ousted in the following century when, by royal decree, the entire Society of Jesus had been banned from France.
