Musée Gallé-Juillet

The Musée Gallé-Juillet, which groups together the Maison Gallé-Juillet and the Maison de la Faïence, is a fine legacy of Creil's past. Its unsuspected collections reflect the town's renown in the industrial era. But that's not all! Over the past few years, archaeologists from the département have been working on an astonishing discovery: Creil was once home to a medieval château that was, in its day, comparable to that of Pierrefonds! This Château is part of the foundations of the Maison Gallé-Juillet, and can be discovered during specially organized tours (see the agenda on the website).

THE MAISON GALLÉ-JUILLET
Bequeathed by the Gallé-Juillet family during the first half of the 20th century, the Maison Gallé-Juillet, which can only be visited with a guide, presents the life of our grandfathers during the Belle Époque. The beds are made, the table is set with earthenware dishes. A totally immersive journey back in time, to discover the life of Maurice, a young man who died for France in the First World War, his family and the household staff.

You can also discover a treasure trove of Gallo-Roman coins, discovered by chance in 1974 by CM2 children from the Jean Biondi school in Creil, on the banks of the river Oise.

This visit should be combined with that of the Maison de la Faïence.

Regular workshops are offered for children and adults alike, providing a fun and original way to discover the life of the house's inhabitants, the habits and customs of the period, earthenware work and excavations at Creil Castle.
