The Litor cirque is a natural area of the Pyrenees located in the Ouzom valley, at the border between the High Pyrenees and the Atlantic Pyrenees. The name derives from "lit," which over time designated an even larger natural area. Originally, the toponym Litor referred to the limestone wall and the slopes that dominate to the south the pastures of Cap d'Ouzom, in the territory of Arbiost. In 1860, the surveyors who were plotting the section of the thermal route of the Pyrenees between Aigas Bonas and Argelèrs de Gasòst named the place circ de Litor, which included the cliff and the slopes with trees. Currently, the name circ de Litor is used to refer to the summer grazing area of the municipality of Arbiost. Some modern documents extend this designation to a larger area, including the cirque and plateau of Litor along with the grazing areas of Arbiost and lands of the municipality of Biost, on the left bank of the Ouzom River.
