EGLISE NOTRE-DAME DE L'ASSOMPTION DE ST-CHÉLY DU TARN

The church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption in Saint-Chély du Tarn, listed as a Historic Monument, was mentioned in 1155. It depended on the priory of Sainte-Enimie.
The orange colour of the building comes from the materials used for its construction, limestone and tuff
Inside, it consists of a single nave separated from the choir by a grid, which opens onto a polygonal apse decorated with a five-sided arch, completed by two apsidioles
A certain amount of care is taken with the triumphal arch, with its two double arches falling on columns, one of which is decorated with Corinthian capitals. Two chapels forming a transept were also built near the choir, each housing an altar framed by columns and topped by a triangular pediment
The whole church is painted with a light plaster, except for the vault of the apse, which is painted with a starry sky, and the two chapels, which are covered by a pale blue.
