With 4,600 ha, the Raismes-Saint-Amand-Wallers national forest, located northwest of Valenciennes, is the second largest forest massif in the Nord department, far behind the Mormal forest but the first forest massif of the Scarpe-Escaut Regional Natural Park, of which it has been part since 1967. It is a state forest managed by the National Forestry Office.
