It's hard to believe that this bridge across the Ouvèze river is 2.000 years old. The Romans built the bridge that now connects the upper city on the Colline du Chateau and the lower city near the Colline de la Villasse. The Roman ruins are found in the lower city on the banks of the river Ouvèze. The medieval town in at the upper city on a rocky cliff. In the Middle Ages attacks were frequent and then the town retreated uphill to a more defensible position.
