Es ist schwer zu glauben, dass diese Brücke über den Fluss Ouvèze 2.000 Jahre alt ist. Die Römer erbauten die Brücke, die jetzt die Oberstadt auf dem Colline du Chateau und die Unterstadt in der Nähe des Colline de la Villasse verbindet. Die römischen Ruinen befinden sich in der Unterstadt am Ufer des Flusses Ouvèze. Die mittelalterliche Stadt liegt in der Oberstadt auf einer felsigen Klippe. Im Mittelalter waren Angriffe häufig, und dann zog die Stadt auf eine besser verteidigbare Position den Hang hinauf zurück.
