The Montreux-Vieux train station is located on the Paris–Mulhouse railway line and served as the German border station to France from 1871 to 1914.
The Montreux-Vieux station is situated at track kilometer 456.8 in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region. The opposite French border station was Petit-Croix. Montreux-Vieux itself is already located in the western Vosges and in the traditionally French-speaking area. The German Empire annexed the region in 1871 for military reasons, as it was only about 10 km from the fortress of Belfort.
