The Altenberg is an 856 m high mountain in Alsace. It is located in the Vosges Mountains about 12 km northwest of Sélestat mainly on the territory of the municipality of Neubois, but also extends to the districts of Breitenau, Dieffenbach-au-Val, Fouchy, La Vancelle, Lièpvre and Rombach-le-Franc. At the highest point of the extensive ridge, at the Rocher du Coucou rock formation, there is a broadcasting tower for television. On the 703 m high Schlossberg to the east, the ruins of Frankenburg Castle are enthroned.
