The castle, with its two towers, dominates the Kirneck valley to the north and the Barr valley to the south, and the Andlau valley to the south
The high castle, without a courtyard, was built by the lords of Andlau between 1337 and 1344. The entrance was designed as a succession of traps against the enemy. The lordly dwelling was still inhabited by forest rangers until 1796
The Association of Friends of Andlau Castle offers guided tours for groups, depending on the availability of the members of the association. More information: info@chateaudandlau.com
Access: from Barr, take the RD 854 towards Mont Sainte-Odile. After 5 km turn left to reach the car park of the Maison Forestière at Hungerplatz, then continue on foot on the paths marked with a red cross: 1 hour walk there and back.
