Gordes

At this viewpoint, it pays to pause and just enjoy. The old town of Gordes is in front of us on one of the foothills of the plateau du Vaucluse. It overlooks the plain of the Calavon with the Luberon in the distance. Gordes is one of the highlights of the Luberon. A lot of stars have a villa here.
The houses in natural stone are grouped around the rock on which a large church and an imposing castle have been built. It is not surprising that Gordes is considered one of the most beautiful villages in France.
It is worthwhile to walk up and down in the cobbled streets between the mansions. On the left and right we discover artful portals, old beams and colorful plaster, and a terrace to enjoy a coffee or a beer.
In the center of the village you can visit the castle that houses the town hall and a museum of Pol Mara, a modern Flemish painter.
We now drive back up the village to the castle in the center.
