The François-Mitterrand Space is a wooded park of oaks and an allegorical memorial dedicated to the former resistance fighter, politician, and President of the French Republic François Mitterrand in Château-Chinon in the Morvan region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.
During World War II, after being a prisoner of war, particularly at Stalag IXA in Ziegenhain, Germany, and then escaping on December 15, 1941, Mitterrand formed, starting in 1942, his network of the French internal resistance, the national gathering of prisoners of war / national movement of prisoners of war and deportees.
