The Galibier Tunnel is a road tunnel in France located at the border of the Hautes-Alpes and Savoie departments, in the French Alps, under the pass of the same name.
Bored in 1891 and the last link in this road connecting Hautes-Alpes and Savoie, the tunnel was closed to traffic in 1976 as it was deemed outdated and replaced by the road passing through the pass. Renovated in 2002, it has been reopened to automobile traffic on an alternating and partial basis; cyclists and pedestrians are not allowed to use it.
