The Château-Fort of Château-Chalon is a former medieval feudal fortress that disappeared between the 9th and 13th centuries, located in Château-Chalon in the Jura region of Franche-Comté. Château-Chalon owes its name to Jean I of Chalon, count of Chalon, founder of the House of Chalon-Arlay in the 13th century. This well-preserved former medieval village is currently classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France and the Cities of Character of Burgundy-Franche-Comté, and is one of the jewels of the Jura vineyard with its appellation Château-Chalon.
