The convent of the Visitandines, in Troyes, is an abbey founded in 1631 that is still active and located in the Aube.
They came to Troyes, invited by René de Breslay with the consent of Louis XIII, who wanted to reform the Penitent Daughters of the St-Abraham Hospital.
Mother Superior Favre came with four sisters, two novices, but the inhabitants of Troyes forbade them entry into their city and the cathedral chapter was also hostile. Indeed, eight religious houses had been opened in the city in eight years. They had to wait eight weeks at the episcopal castle of Saint-Lyé before being able to make their entrance on July 6, 1631, and received their letters patent from the king in the following August.
