Beauville Castle

In the Serres region between the valleys of the Garonne and the Lot, Beauville welcomes you at the border of Lot-et-Garonne and Tarn-et-Garonne. Here, you will discover the Beauville castle, an ancient fortress that belonged to the Boville family, allied with that of Marshal de Montluc and that of Bishop Talleyrand-Périgord of Autun. Without descendants, the Boville family bequeathed the building to the department, which housed six families of gendarmes there from 1865 to 1976.
Half of the building was constructed in the 16th century, as evidenced by the mullioned windows. During your visit, you will observe the influence of the Italian Renaissance on the entrance door and the fireplaces, and the refined work of sculpting quality stone. In 1925, the staircase and kitchen were listed in the Inventory of Historical Monuments, a listing that was extended to the entire building, including the courtyards and gardens, in 2006.
